Travel with Brittney Series: Dubai

wordswpurpose

Traveling is in my genes. Ever since I was little, I remember always traveling whether it was summers in Jamaica with my cousins or car rides to Florida. It's something that's always on my mind.

Since my study abroad in Sweden, I have made it a priority to travel the world and experience all cultures. This past May for my birthday I went to Dubai, UAE. It has been on my list and I'm so grateful I had the chance to experience and see this beautiful country. It was absolutely mind-boggling to see the futuristic sky-scrapers to the beautiful structures of the mosque's and the top notch luxury. I can understand why a lot of internationals move there for work, business or a new experience on life. The UAE provides you with new opportunities to get immersed in the culture, meet people from all over the world and bring to life your business idea's and see its potential to thrive in due time.

My tour guide Kadu who is from India but has been living in Dubai for 20+ years was humble, knowledgable about the growth of the country and beyond funny. He informed my family and I on how much Dubai has developed over a period of 10+ years. He witnessed the whole transformation of how Dubai was just complete desert and grew to be what it's today (which is a lifestyle of exotic luxury). Everywhere we drove by seemed to be next level from the police cars that were Mercedes Benz to the Dubai Mall that has over 10,000 stores that is 5 floors, holds an aquarium and is connected to the Burj Khalifa.

I felt as if even though I was in a different country, I had all the comforts of home all around from Mickey D's to KFC to Cheesecake Factory. You have all the same stores back at home as you do in the UAE. But don't let that stop you from all the cuisine that the country holds. I love Arabic food. It's something I could live off forever--Kadu had taken my family and I to this authentic Arab restaurant...it was absolutely delish. While we were eating, we saw a group of men dressed in their traditional garments (they all looked so fresh). Kadu told us that they are from the country Oman (A 5-6 hr drive from Dubai). I wish I had the opportunity to go, but I plan to go there next!

CC: I forgot the name of the meal, but it was a traditional Arabic dish(absolutely delish)

When you look around at all the different faces, you can see that the majority of people living in the UAE are expats. Kadu informed us that there are over 189 nationalities and that they out-beat the Emirates which is 14%. I found out that a majority of the locals live past the life of luxury into the calmness of the Arabian Desert. There is a sense of peace when you embark on the outskirts of Dubai and see how the locals live. Stillness, serenity, quietness and joy were all felt just being.

The Desert Safari is a must when you come. It's something that you truly have to experience on your own. :)

If you do go in May, make sure to bring flowy dresses and cool comfy clothing because it was hot. Temperatures range from 90-100 degrees Farenheit/33-40 Celsius. They say the best times to come are October-March to beat the heat. Just know the prices will be high so book in advance. The pro about coming in May is that the hotel prices are not that high-- range from $40-70USD per night.

Places to visit: Dubai Mall, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Frame, Future Museum, Miracle Garden, Butterfly Garden, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Jumeirah Palm Island, Atlantis, Tour guide to the Arabian Desert + more.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my Travel Series to Dubai :)

What's somewhere you really want to go and see? What's stopping you from going? Leave it in the comments below! I'd love to hear. :)

Traveling is something I felt the LORD has put in my heart. To see the people He created and the beauty He created. I prayed about being able to go to Dubai months before it happened, and He answered my prayers. What an amazing GOD!

I pray that you will receive a boldness to do what the LORD has called you to do! Until next time, GOD BLESS YOU! <3 XO

Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
