Feeling Weary As You Return to Office? Remember to Refrain, Reflect, Rest & Restart!

As reality sets back in, and we've all started returning into the office you can feel a sense of weariness on your body since some of us haven't been accustomed to a five day work week in two years. It really hit me that first week back, and I remember thinking to myself, wow how was I doing this before? Mind you, I had only been working in the office for about two and half months until covid hit. I'm thankful for the hybrid model allowing us to pick and choose the days that fit best. I know for a fact that our perception on balancing work and life has significantly changed, and that there needed to be some self-reflection as we all prioritized what's most important for our well-being but also still allowing us to get our work done.

Rest is imperative as human beings. We are not wired as robots. We need breaks. So when you feel a sense of weariness, revert and take a step back. Put down the laptop or phone. Find the things that bring you joy, passion and purpose--whether it's a walk in the park, spending time with your loved ones, catching up with a friend, traveling or nurturing your hobbies. I know whenever I'm tired, I always love a great work out in nature and spending time in the Lord's presence. Traveling is another passion for me. When you work hard, it's great to get outside your comfort zone and explore the world. My passions may differ from you, and that's perfectly fine. Just remember to enjoy your life and spend your time wisely. We only have one life to live--love it!

Get back up again. Once you've had the time to analyze what made you exhausted in the first place, you'll know how to go about it next time. Allowing yourself to refrain, reflect and re-structure develops your character and builds up your confidence. After your time of fun, your mind will feel ready to take on whatever comes your way no matter what experience you face now and in the future.

I hope this post encouraged and invigorated you to remember the importance of rest, having fun and working to live your life brightly!

Matthew 11;28-30

28 “Come to me,all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
